What is Conservation?
The job of a conservator is to prevent the world's cultural heritage from deteriorating. By that I mean saving art, artifacts, documents and architecture from falling apart. This is so important because, not only do these things enlighten us with their beauty, they serve a purpose in informing us about history. A conservator combines his/her knowledge of fine art, art history, and science to learn about the condition of a specific object and how it was damaged. From there, s/he can treat any damage that has occurred, restore the object to its full integrity and preserve it for future generations!
